Lori has been actively involved in the health and fitness industry for the last 7 years. Her journey first started when she decided to take control of her weight and health. While studying Applied Human Sciences at Concordia University, she took her first personal training certification at the YMCA in Montreal. During her time in Montreal she continued to work at the YMCA as a personal trainer and fitness instructor with a variety of clientele.
After completing her degree, Lori moved back to Toronto and acquired her second personal training certification to become a Personal Trainer Specialist. At the same time, Lori was dealing with serious stomach issues and was still unable to get a handle on her weight. She sought out the advice of Doctors who provided her with plenty of prescriptions to alley her symptoms and told her to join Weight Watchers. Finally, Lori went to see a Naturopath. During her multiple visits, Lori began to understand that a sensitivity to wheat, gluten and yeast was causing her stomach issues and weight gain. Following the Naturopaths advice, Lori experienced a feeling of health she never before felt. Lori is of the belief that there is a reason for everything. She attributed her stomach pain and weight gain as conditions she needed to experience in order for her to know what she was supposed to do with her life.
Her journey then continued and took her down a different road; away from fitness and towards food. Lori spent 2 years intensively studying nutrition at The Canadian School of Natural Nutrition where she obtained the designation of Registered Nutritionist Consultant Practitioner. While studying nutrition she found the missing the link; the reason why people were unable to loose weight, achieve their health and fitness goals and live in a way that constantly improves their health. Her views on the meaning of "health" and what is considered to be "healthy" have changed since she started out 7 years ago. She believes in wholeness, in healing the entire body regardless of the symptoms. The education she has received has proven invaluable to herself and her clients.
Lori's journey is always continuing and evolving. She founded Positive Lifestyles Nutrition + Wellness; a nutrition and wellness company comprised of wellness professionals who passionately seek out new ways to help improve the quality of client's lives. The company's mission is to educate and coach as many people as possible to live their lives in a way that promotes health. She is proud to be facilitating the 10 Weeks to WOW! weight loss program at the Womens Fitness Clubs of Canada.
